Ladies, now you can truly justify your shopping spree as a good cause…M·A·C Cosmetics and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Women’s Business Council will host their fourth annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza, an evening of holiday shopping, fashion, beauty and support for two not-for-profit groups: Suited for Success and the M·A·C AIDS Fund.
Businesswomen will network over champagne and chocolate, get the first glimpse of the new M·A·C cosmetics holiday line, and take advantage of discounts from select jewelers. Additional discounts and raffle give-aways will be provided by neighboring retailers. M·A·C will also provide image consultations, mini-makeovers and make-up advice throughout the evening.
A donation of $10 and a business accessory item (shoes, jewelry, belts, etc.) for Suited for Success, a not-for-profit organization that helps dress and prepare men and women entering the workforce, is greatly appreciated. All donated items must be clean, READY TO WEAR and in excellent condition. Additional donations to M·A·C AIDS Fund are also welcome.

It's been close to a decade since art enthusiasts last got to see Dominican Republic artist Julio Susana’s artwork in the U.S. His last American exhibit was in Coral Gables in 1999. Art aficionados won’t have to wait much longer, as the painter, sculptor and professor unveils his newest collection of paintings at Mila Hajjar Gallery (32 Giralda Ave) in Coral Gables, FL. The exhibition runs from October 11th through November 8, 2007.
Earlier this year, Susana exhibited “Colores de mi Tierra” (“Colors of My Land”) at the Secretaria de Estado de Cultura in Santo Domingo. Now he’s returning to the U.S. with “Fiesta de Colores Tropicales” (“Festival of Tropical Colors”) premiering at Mila Hajjar Gallery this fall.
The artist’s most recent works, about 30 paintings and 25 drawings, will be displayed, including titled works “Construction in Space” and “Love in Space.” And apparently, the time in Santo Domingo inspired Susana. “This work is innovative, and very creative. It’s figurative, incorporating elements in space,” he says.
Susana, who describes his work as “his imagination flourishing in art,” has enjoyed continuous praise from Latin American critics. La Prensa called his paintings “eloquent” and “passionate,” classifying him as an “outstanding figure of Dominican art.”
A successful artist for nearly five decades, Susana enjoys intertwining themes of nature and humanity. He’s known for his defined lines, geometric figures and colorful pieces.
