ACTORS NEEDED—The West Boca Theatre Company of the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center in Boca Raton is holding auditions for its 2004-2005 season. Shows will include Tale of the Allergist’s Wife and Mixed Emotions. BOYCHOIR MEMBERS NEEDED—Florida’s Singing Sons Boychoir annual auditions for new Training Choir members will be held Saturday, September 18 from 9am-1pm, Saturday, October 2 from 9am-1pm, and Friday, October 8 from 3-8pm. MIAMI-DADE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS NEEDED—The Cable-TAP Community Channel is currently accepting applications from eligible non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or governmental agencies for the fourth quarter programming schedule. The typical program schedule is set in three-month increments and consists of a series of revolving programs. Although applications will be accepted from any eligible organization, special consideration will be given to those that are able to produce programming at the Homestead Campus of Miami-Dade College. SONGWRITERS NEEDED—$100,000 in cash and prizes will be shared by 50 winners in 16 categories in the International Songwriting Competition. TOUR GUIDES NEEDED—The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood seeks volunteer tour guides (also known as docents and junior docents). Docents and junior docents (who are ages 13-19) give tours of the Center’s gallery exhibitions to school groups and other organizations. They also participate in theme-based, interactive, hands-on visual and performing arts activities with the Center’s education department staff. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED—The Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) is seeking volunteers for its new Art Deco museum located inside the Art Deco Welcome Center at 1001 Ocean Drive. The museum is open seven days a week, from 10am-5pm. Volunteers are needed to welcome visitors and provide brochures and walking tour guides. Volunteer hours are flexible and range anywhere from few hours to a full day. The MDPL is a non-profit organization founded by Barbara Capitman in 1976 and is the oldest Art Deco Society in the world. The organization provides cultural and educational programs to the general public—including lectures, film screenings and tours around Miami’s historical districts. The museum is the newest addition to the organization and has been developed for anyone with an interest to learn about art, design, architecture, history, preservation and community planning and development.
